We have a new blog site for our class!

Hi everyone,

Just letting you know that for 2014/2015 I will no longer be using blogger.com, but will instead be blogging for our classroom on Edublogs.  Please check it out and leave a comment so I know you've been by!

June 10, 2015

Good afternoon parents!  I'm not going to be updating the blog with daily entries anymore, as I am focusing my time on report cards and end of the year preparations.  I will keep the homework up to date (there won't be much!  Likely just reminders!), and will post occasional photos for you to see.  If you have any questions or concerns, please stop by or email me at kbergen@cascadechristian.ca

Thanks for a wonderful year!

Mrs. Bergen :)

It's Sports Day!  I'll post a few photos today as the day progresses.  The children are sure excited and we have great weather for it!

June 4, 2015

9 1/2 days of school left everyone!  And with Sports Day and the waterslides field trip, it's more like 7 1/2!  Ready or not, here they come!  We're working hard on finishing in a really positive way and have begun setting goals for next year.  Knowing I'll have the same students makes this so simple.

Here's how our day went today:

  1. Spelling test - we had our Unit 30 test today. Marks are in their planners.
  2. S.S. - the students had an hour to try a different game today
  3. Math - we've moved on to Show What You Know (Review) for multiplication and division.  Next week we're going to do some data analysis and graphing!
  4. R.W. - we worked on our These Are My People questions for Chapters 9 and 10.
  5. W.W. - the students finished up their letters to me about their highlights from this year and goals for next year
  6. Sports Day prep - each student went to their team leader's room to work on their poster and cheer for tomorrow!

June 3, 2015

Hi families.  We had a bit of a rocky start to our day due to some trouble with Mrs. Hoock (lots of chatting and distracted behaviour, which is typical for June), but we ended the day very well.

  1. Opening Exercises - independent reading/some students finished up their gameboards
  2. W.W. - the students finished up their letters to me with their favourite memories and goals for next year
  3. Grammar - the students are now finishing up their grammar books
  4. DPA - we played "Every Man For Himself" Dungeon Ball
  5. Music - with Mr. Banman
  6. R.W. - we read Chapter 10 of These Are My People
  7. Math - the 3's worked on related facts again and the 4's continued plowing through long division
  8. S.S. - we started playing some of the gameboards.  I'll email you a video shortly, but the class had a wonderful time.  We'll have another gameboard day tomorrow!

June 1, 2015

We're into our last month of the school year, and it was a great start today!

  1. Assembly - Mr. Morrow spoke about upcoming events and finishing well
  2. Spelling - Unit 30 words were tested today (review words).  Most students had at least one wrong to correct for homework.  Memory verse this week is the final try at the Big 12, and it will be on Thursday as we have Sports Day on Friday.
  3. R.W. - we worked on some activities to do with These Are My People and then I read aloud from Charlie and the Chocolate Factory
  4. Math - the 3's worked on related multiplication and division while the 4's ventured into long division.  We have a chart paper in the classroom to help them remember the order, but ultimately it's a practice makes perfect type of process, so please work on this at home with them as well.  Simply give them a 2 digit divided by 1 digit question, with or without reminders, each night.
  5. P.E. - with Mr. Banman
  6. S.S. - today was the last class to work on the pioneer gameboards.  They will be shared and played on Wednesday!
  7. Chapel - Mrs. Bloch led today and her message was all about patience.
