September 12, 2014

Happy Friday everyone!  Here's what took place in Grade 3/4 today:

  1. Opening Exercises - we did a summer crossword puzzle
  2. Spelling Test - everyone did very well on this.  Remind your child to know where the memory verse came from. :)
  3. R.W. - we had independent reading and some read aloud time.  The kids are loving Clementine, by Sara Pennypacker.  There are more in this series, so be sure to watch for them at the public library.
  4. W.W. - the class continued on their 'All About Me' writing
  5. DPA - we played 3 on 3 soccer
  6. Ketchup and Pickles - this is the silly name we give to time for catching up on late work, and picking something to do that is productive
  7. Math - we continued working through our patterns and visual organizers, today focusing on the 100 chart.
  8. Science - our study of the solar system continues, and we spent some time watching Louie Giglio's video, 'How Great is Our God', focusing on the portion where he preaches about the 'Star Maker'. You can watch what we saw here: Louie Giglio 'Star Maker'.  It is truly incredible how great our God is, and how privileged we are to be living here.  Enjoy the video and the message with your child(ren).  It's worth your time. We also made some words with the letters from 'constellation'.  I love cross-curricular connections and today was prime time for that!
  9. Art - today's lesson was so much fun.  We worked on created a Lego mini-figure of ourselves!  The children had to make it unique and personal - similar hair, clothes (everyday clothes), and something in their hand(s) that reflected who they are or what they enjoy doing.  Be sure to check this out in the hallway soon!
