September 9, 2014

Hello everyone! Today was my (Miss Dyck) first day with the grades 3 and 4. We had a lot of fun today. Here's what we did:

1. Picture Day: Everyone was smiling as we took our class photos today. We can't wait to see how they turned out!
2. Opening Exercises: We did an activity called "Number of the Day." The students had to use the number given to them to complete some math questions. They worked through place value, addition, and subtraction.
3. Bible: We started talking about our adventure with God and the adventure he has set out for us. We created a compass showing us what we need when we go on our adventure with Him.
4. Math: The class was introduced to geometry. We covered topics like line segments, lines, points, and rays. By the end of the lesson, each student was able to tell the difference between these math terms.
5. Library: This was our first time visiting the library. The students left with books that they were very excited to read.
6. P.E.: In P.E., we played the very exciting game of Corner Soccer and 3 Strikes.
7. Science: We learned about structures--what structures are and structures that are man-made vs. nature-made. We even went on a scavenger hunt around our classroom and outside to find different structures, what they were made out of, and what their purposes were.

I had a great first day with the students and I can't wait for next Tuesday when I'll get to be with them again!
