The week started off with some sudoku to get the children's minds up and running again! They all seemed to enjoy it and were challenged as well. Then it was on to RW, and we spent some time with Charlotte's Web, reading Chapter 17. Afterwards we had Spelling. This week's words are all review and there are only 12, which is perfect for a shorter week. The memory verse won't be assessed until two weeks from Friday.
Following recess we had WW, and we spent time today reviewing, reading and writing haikus. I was impressed with how many students remembered what made a haiku unique and how creative they were in developing their own! Then we had Math, and we moved into our final unit, which for the Grade 3's is multiplication and division (up to 5x5) and for the 4's is multiplying and dividing larger numbers. Please review the basic facts at home as I won't be doing anymore drills at school. There are many websites that offer review of basic facts, but if you have trouble finding some let me know and I'll recommend a few.
The afternoon was spent watching weather forecasts (the students will be working on a project along these lines in the next few weeks), and viewing some videos on tornadoes, hurricanes and thunderstorms. The students also had some time to finish up their severe weather posters.
The speaker for chapel was unavailable today, so we chose to have some school-wide outside time after the worship songs.
