May 21, 2014

We had a short, but sweet day today!  It began with a math drill, and then on to WW, where we focused on tankas.  Ask your child if he or she can recall the tanka they wrote in class today.  They did a great job of it, and learned that tankas have a 5, 7, 5, 7, 7, syllable per line pattern, are often about nature and are often sung.

Then we had RW, and we read Chapters 18 and 19 from Charlotte's Web, and then went outside to enjoy some sunshine and read from The Hobbit.

After recess we spent some time reading to the Kindergarten class!  The students were keen to share their fairytales with another class and Mrs. Ryskamp was happy to have us.  Following this, we had Math, and the students slaved away at a game involving multiplication, arrays and addition. :)

They had a break with P.E. (they played a version of baseball) and then came back to the classroom with Mr. Banman to finish their Math game.

The afternoon was spent studying Cartier's second and third journey in S.S.

Please remember to get your field trip forms and money in tomorrow!
